Penne Alla Vodka

This recipe is so good. Like seriously, from-a-restaurant good. And it is perfect for Valentine’s Day, because you can make it for someone else, or you can also make it for your damn self and queue up a movie marathon solo without having to share. We fully support both options. 5 tbsps butter ½ onion, minced 2 cloves of garlic, minced ¼ tsp crushed red pepper flakes (less if you don’t want a kick) ⅓ cup vodka 1 28-oz can of crushed tomatoes 1 cup whipping cream 1 tsp salt 1 cup grated Parmesan cheese 1 box of penne pasta 1. Melt the butter in a medium saucepan over medium heat. Add onion, garlic and chili flakes. Sauté for about 5 min, stirring frequently. Add the vodka and simmer for another 5 min.

2. Add the can of crushed tomatoes and let the mixture simmer for about 10 min. Don’t forget to stir every few minutes. Add whipping cream and salt and cook for another 5 min (and, you guessed it, keep stirring). Add the Parm and mix well.

3. Cook the penne according to the directions on the box. Drain and add to sauce. Mix well. Serving tips: This can be plated or served family-style on a platter. We like it alongside Caesar salad, garlic bread and a glass of wine. May we also recommend a movie lineup of Mystic Pizza, Moonstruck and The Godfather. Italian undertones and something for everyone, no?
